Katherine Marshall Nakamarra was born in 1974 and is the daughter of Turkey Tolson Tjupurrula who is one of the founding members of the Papunya Tula Art Movement.She was raised by her mother Walangkura Napanangka and Stepfather Johnny Yungut Tjupurrula and belongs to the Pintupi group of the Kintore country. Her medium is acrylic painting on linen / canvas and her subjects relate to Womens Ceremony. Katherine was born in Papunya and relocated to Kintore in the late 80’s when many of the Pintupi & Luritja families returned to their Homelands. She paints her Grandmothers Country paying homage to the water source and bush tucker surrounding the Area. She grew up watching her parents paint and in recent years assisting her mother on larger works. Katherine is a dedicated artist with a family lineage second to none, Her powerful depictions harmonise with colour displaying the fertility and strength of the land.
